One Chapter Ends, Another Begins: Reflections From Four Graduates

May 21, 2026 ~ NCM Staff

Graduation season has arrived across much of the world, and students who are part of Nazarene child development programs and centers are marking this important milestone by both celebrating the completion of their schooling and reflecting on the people who helped make the journey possible. For them, graduation is the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another shaped by years of encouragement, opportunity, prayer, and support.

The four letters below were written by graduates in the Philippines as they prepared to say goodbye to the sponsors that walked alongside them throughout childhood and adolescence. In their own words, they share gratitude for these who uplifted them, believed in them, and reminded them they were not alone. These letters offer a glimpse into the lasting impact of compassionate, faithful support that comes to life through Nazarene child sponsorship.

JOSEPHINE

Dear Sponsor,

I am writing this letter with a grateful heart, and full of emotion as I celebrate a very special milestone in my life: my graduation from Grade 12. From the time I was just 3 years old in K2, until now that I am turning 18, you have been part of my journey. You have supported me, believed in me, and helped shape the person I am today. Because of you and the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, I was given opportunities, guidance, and love that I will carry with me forever. Words truly feel insufficient to express how thankful I am.

Growing up in the ministry has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. I used to joke that I never wanted to graduate because I wanted to remain a child who is sponsored forever. It felt like home, a place where I was cared for, encouraged, and surrounded by people who genuinely loved me. But as I now step into a new chapter and prepare for college, I understand that this is also a chance to give others the same opportunity I once received. Though it is bittersweet to move forward, I carry with me all the memories, lessons, and love that this ministry has given me.

One of the most unexpected blessings in my journey is becoming a volunteer teacher. I grew up watching my siblings serve in the ministry, teaching children and showing God's love, and I once told myself that I didn't see myself doing the same. Yet here I am today, choosing to serve and give back. It feels surreal and humbling.

I even had a unique experience of being both a student and a learner under my own sister, which made my journey even more meaningful. Through teaching, I discovered a deeper purpose to share the same love, care, and hope that was once given to me.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of my story. Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your unwavering support throughout the years. You have not only helped me reach this milestone, but have also inspired me to become someone who gives back and serves others. I will forever be grateful to be part of this ministry, and I will carry its mission in my heart wherever I go.

May God bless you abundantly, just as you have been a blessing to me.

Sincerely,
Josephine

Dear Sponsors,

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! The day has finally come, after 18 years of your love, generosity, and compassion, I am now witnessing the fruit of everything you have done for me. I have finally graduated from senior high school, a milestone I only once dreamed of reaching. This achievement became possible through God's grace and through the blessing of having someone like you who believed in my future.

As I move forward to the next chapter of my life it also means this may be the last letter and card I will send to you. Even though our communication may end here, please know that my gratitude and prayers for you will always remain in my heart.

You began helping me when I was only three years old and still in kindergarten. Because of your help, I was able to focus on my studies and give my best in everything I did. By God's grace, I was given the opportunity to grow in both academics and leadership, including serving as a campus journalist. Although I feel sad that this blessing must now end, I am also happy knowing that another child in need will be given the same opportunity that changed my life.

The difference you make in the lives of young people is truly immeasurable. May God continue to bless you abundantly, reward your kindness, warm your heart, and strengthen you as you continue changing lives. Thank you so much for being part of my story and for helping me become the person I am today.

Dear Sponsor,

I just want to take this moment to sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart. For 14 years of being part of the program under Nazarene Compassionate Ministry, I have been so blessed and grateful — not only for the opportunities and support I received, but most especially for meeting someone as kind and wonderful as you. You have been a blessing in my life for such a long time. Your kindness, generosity, and care have touched my heart in ways words cannot fully explain.

Through the years, you became more than just a sponsor to me — you became a true friend, someone who believed in me and made me feel valued and loved. Because of your support, I was given hope, encouragement, and chances to grow into the person I am today. You helped make my journey brighter, and your goodness has made a lasting difference in my life.

Even as miles separate us, your kindness reached me deeply and became part of my story. Thank you for staying with me through the years. Thank you for every prayer, every message, every act of generosity, and every reminder that there are people who truly care. You may not always see the full impact of what you have done, but please know that you changed a life and inspired a heart.

I will always treasure our friendship and the memories of your kindness. No matter where life takes us, I will always carry gratitude for you in my heart. You are one of the people God used to bless my life, and I will never forget that.

Thank you for being such an amazing sponsor, a caring friend, and a beautiful blessing to me for these 14 years. May God continue to bless you, guide you, and fill your life with joy and love, just as you have shared so much with others.

With all my gratitude and respect,

Jenny
