2019 Christmas Project: Fundraising Ideas

December 10, 2019  · AMY HECKMAN

For churches looking to support the NCM Christmas Project, we’ve compiled a list of ideas to get you started. Whether you run a fundraiser in the children’s ministry department or open it up to the entire congregation, everything you raise will go to make a difference in the lives of women and girls in Liberia.

Learn more about the project at ncm.org/christmas.

1. Kids’ Coin Offerings

Similar to an Alabaster offering, have children collect coins from around the house or car and bring to church on Sunday as a donation to the project. Consider placing a jar in the children’s church area and challenge the kids to fill it up!

2. “Rent a Teen”

Have your youth group offer voluntary labor services to church members (consider things like leaf raking, snow removal, babysitting, or car washing). Choose an amount per task each teen will be “paid”, but collect those funds for the project offering.

3. Dinner Fundraiser

Have teens serve as waiters, and ask church members to cook the food. Offer a simple menu like spaghetti or chili, and any profit made from ticket sales will help support the Christmas Project. Ask church musicians to provide free entertainment!

4. Giving Tree

Have teens serve as waiters, and ask church members to cook the food. Offer a simple menu like spaghetti or chili, and any profit made from ticket sales will help support the Christmas Project. Ask church musicians to provide free entertainment

5. Women and Girls Tie-Dying Event and Sale

Tie-dying is one of the skills taught in the Empowering Women with Dignity vocational classes.
Invite women and daughters for a special event where they learn to tie-dye. Create shirts, bandanas, or pillowcases and display the finished products in the church foyer to sell. All profit will go to the Christmas Project offering.

6. Christmas Bake or Craft Sale

Solicit donations for a bake sale, or crafters willing to donate pieces to a sale. Consider combining this event with a dinner fundraiser or other event to draw in more of a crowd.

Thank you for supporting the 2019 Christmas Project!
