This January, young Nazarene leaders from around the world gathered in Orlando and Lake Placid, Florida, for the Nazarene Youth International Third Wave conference. Together, these young men and women experienced worship, learning, and service opportunities. Nazarene Compassionate Ministries joined the Third Wave event for a day of training and ministry. These emerging leaders learned from NCM staff on topics like disaster relief, refugee and immigrant care, and disaster preparedness. In sessions, the participants discussed what compassionate ministry looks like in their contexts and found inspiration for new types of outreach and missional work.

As a hands-on activity, attendees built Crisis Care Kits. Local churches from the Florida and Southern Florida Districts supplied the items, and the completed kits were donated to Bags of Hope, a Nazarene Compassionate Ministry Center in Fort Lauderdale. The kits will be sent to Guyana to support indigenous communities as part of the Bags of Hope ministry in that nation.
